Associate Vice President for Student Financial Services

Position Summary:

Houston Christian University (HCU) seeks a dynamic and experienced individual to serve as the Associate Vice President for Student Financial Services. The successful candidate will oversee and direct all aspects of financial aid and student accounts, including the administration of federal, state, and institutional aid programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and administration of financial aid policies and procedures per federal and state regulations and university policies.
  • Manage the daily operations of the financial aid and student accounts departments, including the supervision of staff and the allocation of resources.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase the accessibility and affordability of higher education for students and their families.
  • Work closely with other university departments to ensure that financial aid is coordinated with academic programs and student services and that student accounts are accurate and current.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all federal and state regulations related to financial aid and student accounts and ensure that the university complies with all requirements.
  • Serve as the primary contact for students and their families regarding financial aid and student account issues, advising them on available aid options, assisting with financial aid applications, and addressing questions or concerns.
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities for financial aid and student accounts department staff and ensure they are equipped to provide high-quality service to students and their families.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in financial aid and student accounts administration, preferably in higher education.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations related to financial aid and student accounts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with financial aid and student accounts software.
